This striking Beni Ourain rug measures 240cm x 157cm, and has been meticulously handcrafted by Manal, a Berber Moroccan tribes woman. The same techniques have been employed by these gifted artists for centuries and in turn, the weaving methods have been passed down through the generations from one weaver to the next.
Naturally Sourced
This magnificent Berber textile comes directly from the North African Atlas Mountains. Its intriguing and artistic geometric designs and the natural materials from which it is made results in a one-of-a-kind creation that can never be duplicated. The indigenous motifs are not simply random designs, but rather symbols representing family heritage, prayers or meditation rituals. Other motifs are meant as good luck charms to keep evil away, and still others symbolize sexuality and fertility. All are carefully and precisely woven with handspun wool, and therefore each rug is guaranteed to be genuine.
Suitable for all Decors
The simple neutral colours used in the weaving of these rugs are modest, and therefore blend effortlessly with virtually any interior decor. Each rug has been hand selected on the numerous trips to Morocco that we make each year, and the best quality Moroccan Berber rugs are the result. The rugs are sourced from Berber Tribes people with whom we have built an ethical and mutually beneficial business relationship.
Berber Rug Care
Although it surprises some customers, it is much easier to care for these light-coloured rugs than it may first seem. This is due to the natural stain resistant barrier that is found in sheep’s wool. The substance is called lanolin, and it is this substance that makes it difficult for stains to penetrate the wool. Simply use a damp cloth and wipe in the natural direction of the weave to prevent staining. However, for a full deep cleaning, we suggest having the rug cleaned by professionals.
