This is a genuine Berber rug made by Amina. It measures 235cm x 160cm. Berber rugs are also referred to as Beni Ourain rugs, which is the name of the Berber tribes to which the weavers who create them belong. They are made by Moroccan tribes-women living high in the Atlas Mountains, where they use ancient designs and techniques to create one-of-a-kind rugs that can be used in many ways. This beautiful organic rug has a soft, supple texture and features lovely motifs, which makes it an entirely unique textile that not only feels great to the touch, but is also visually appealing.
The pile of this high-end Moroccan Beni Ourain rug is created naturally through the ancient processes traditionally involved with this kind of weaving. The latter include the preparation of the organic animal products used to make the rug, as well as the dying and weaving techniques themselves. For example, to begin the weaving process, the artisan typically washes the rug with fresh, spring water from the mountain and then positions the textile in direct sunlight to dry. It is this washing and drying method that gives Berber rugs the distinct ivory shades for which they are known. The abstract yet subtle designs and classic, neutral ivory colours mean that this Moroccan Berber rug can complement virtually any type of interior design.
The sheep wool from which they are made comes from a specific breed of small sheep that are native to the Atlas mountain. This results in a texture that is softer and suppler than other rugs. This luxurious texture is also much finer than that of rugs made from imitation materials, the latter of which should always be avoided.
Beni Ourain rugs are easy to maintain and very durable. This is because the organic lanolin in the wool makes the surface naturally stain-resistant. Therefore, your rug will remain lustrous and soft for multiple decades. They are entirely natural, and no chemicals are used during the weaving process.
Other sellers buy mass-produced rugs that look genuine, but are not made by authentic Moroccan weavers. However, we travel to Morocco regularly to build strong relationships with our suppliers. This ensures that we only invest in the finest Beni Ourain rugs. We offer the weavers a fair price for their hard work and artistic expertise, and place substantial orders, which allows us to sell authentic Berber rugs at a very reasonable price. Your satisfaction is guaranteed when you invest in one or more of our genuine Beni Ourain rugs.
